A Clients Guide to Limited Legal Services by M. Sue Talia "Sue delivers according to her usual superb standards. Her prose is engaging and straightforward, as it should be. What sets this book apart is Sue's wisdom -- her savvy and understanding of how the system works, how lawyers think, and what divorcing people need. My personal favorite is "How to Screw Up Your Case in Five Easy Lessons" (Hint: don't argue with the judge). Also included: How to decide if you're a good candidate for limited legal services, How to find the right lawyer to coach you, and How to get good results from your attorney. She finishes the book with several good checklists to use in getting through your divorce. I'm recommending it to my divorcing clients.

Communicating with a Former Spouse by Vincent Gerard Molina, Barry Spilchuk "This book was so informative! How many of us know people who we don't particularly care for, but have to work with or share some part of our life with? Written in an easy-to-understand format, this book can make a difference to anyone in a botched relationship, who wants to make it better! Mr. Molina teaches how to get along with even the toughest individual and explains how to do it without feeling a need to be emotionally connected. This book would be great for former spouses, former business partners, hard-to-get-along-with bosses, contrary neighbors, etc. etc.! Thank you, Mr. Molina, for your insight and gift to all of us!!"

The Complete Divorce Recovery Handbook by John P. Splinter "A comprehensive step-by-step primer for divorced individuals, this book combined just the right mix of psychotherapy (75%) and spirituality (25%). Clear, well-organized chapters each conclude with enlightening exercises. The book also makes a great reference document you can return to when appropriate, even after having read the book in its entirety."

The Courage to Be a Single Mother : Becoming Whole Again After Divorce by Sheila Ellison "This book is a smart, emotionally charged read. I laughed out loud several times and cried at others. A page turner full of dramatic highs and lows, Sheila Ellison tells us the story of how she overcame divorce and built a new life for herself and her children. Throughout the book we also hear stories of other women who have survived divorce. Covering topics such as, child support, weekend party time with dad....then back home to fuddy duddy mom , re-entering the job force after giving up years to build a family, dating again, facing peer approval /disapproval, finding a new home, handling attorneys.....readers can learn from the stories of these capable women. I did."

Crazy Time : Surviving Divorce and Building a New Life by Abigail Trafford "Divorce is for many people difficult because we are forced to consciously deal with OR avoid those areas about yourself, which may have been responsible for the breakup of the marriage. Through each emotional phase of the divorce process, which for myself may have started the day I met my ex-spouse, the author provides you examples of real life circumstance. Although I don't agree with all the themes of the book, clearly we each approach and react to the process differently. This book pulls no punches, so be prepared to agree and disagree, but most importantly read this only if you want to face yourself."

Divorce & Money: How to Make the Best Financial Decisions During Divorce by Violet Woodhouse, Victoria F. Collins, M. C. Blakeman "Anger and hurt tend to figure strongly in divorce, hand-in-hand with resentment, sadness, and fear about your future. And more often than not, these emotional woes all coalesce under the banner of money. Nolo Press is known for its thorough research and user-friendly approach to legal matters, and its book on Divorce and Money is up to its usual high standards of quality. "Think financially--act legally," the folks at Nolo say, and they explain how to do so, in detailed and practical terms, for joint accounts and hidden assets, gifts and insurance, alimony and retirement benefits, marital property and the IRS, net worth and what to do about the house. They also discuss where to seek professional help, how to keep proper records and assemble the facts, why the financial issues are so sticky, in what ways you're at risk, and how to reduce the stress and avoid the bad scenes, when possible. A life-saver of a reference book for when you're at your most vulnerable and disorganized, Divorce & Money offers practical and proactive advice to help you protect yourself and safeguard your financial future."
