After the Death of a Child : Living With Loss Through the Years by Ann K. Finkbeiner "This was one of the most helpful books I have read on the death of a child over the past ten years. My son died sixteen years ago and I was very interested to read a book dealing with the long term results of the loss of a child. This book dealt with many topics which are covered in the majority of books on grief but dealt with them from the view of parents who have moved several years away from the loss. After all, when a child dies you are still dealing with that death five years later, ten years later and throughout the remainder of your life."
After the Funeral by Jane Loretta Winsch, Pamela T. Keating (Illustrator), Jane L. Winch "This book deals with death and the aftermath that comes with it. A great book to read to students before a loved one passes away and it also challenges children to step-up if needed. Don't even think about not putting this in your shopping cart cause it is a must-have for any bookshelf!"
After Goodbye : How to Begin Again After the Death of Someone You Love by Theodore Menten "This book evokes tears, smiles and nods of understanding as Ted Menten's vignettes hold our hands through the process of grief. As a counselor myself, it is evident that this author has spent many hours in the company of grief. The beauty of his book is that it embraces and validates what only grievers know: you don't get over things and move on, but you move on holding your loved one forever in your heart."
After He's Gone : A Guide for Widowed and Divorced Women by Barbara Tom Jowell, Donnette Schwisow "This is an amazing book which addresses issues you are either facing or may be facing in the future. The book offers insight from women who know from experience what to expect when you are faced with the unexpected- the loss of a husband through death or divorce. They bring honesty, humor and reality to a painful but very real life circumstance. I have given this book to family and friends with the assurance that I have done them a great kindness by sharing Barbara and Donnette's wisdom. I highly recommend this book to all women in all circumstances based on the knowledge that nothing in our lives stays the same."Afterloss : A Recovery Companion for Those Who Are Grieving by Barbara Hills LesStrang "Called the definitive book on grief recovery by both clergy and care professionals, "AfterLoss, A Recovery Companion for Those Who Are Grieving" was originally published in hard cover by Thos. Nelson, Publishers and is now in its fourth printing in quality full-size paperback. In quiet and understanding words, the author gently provides the reader with both companionship and coping skills following the loss of a loved one. The book also takes the reader through 22 stories of loss and recovery, written by those who traveled the journey through grief and emerged safely. The epilogue contains the expanded text of the widely-acclaimed "After My Loss Credo", which has been translated into six languages, including Chinese and Russian."
Always Precious in Our Memory : Reflections After Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Neonatal Death by Kristen Johnson Ingram " there were no reviews of this book, I took a chance and found a gem. We recently lost a baby mid-way through pregnancy. I've read many recommended books which have been very helpful. This one really touched my heart. Nearly all of the reflections spoke to me. I could have written many of them myself. Kristen has obviously lived this tragedy and expresses it with eloquent simplicity. I also loved the quotes from scripture, many of which I plan to highlight when I re-read the book. Overall, a great, comforting, heart-reaching book."Ambiguous Loss: Learning to Live With Unresolved Grief by Pauline Boss" Deals with emotions surrounding ambiguous losses, such as the gradual loss of a family member to Alzheimer's disease, or the unresolved loss of a family whose son is reported missing in action. Suggests strategies that can cushion the pain and help families come to terms with their grief. Case stories offer heartening narratives of people who learn to cope with ambiguous loss, including those who have lost due to divorce, immigration, adoption, chronic mental illness, and brain injury. Lacks a subject index. The author is a professor of family social science at the University of Minnesota, and a psychotherapist in private practice."
As Someone Dies: A Handbook for the Living by Elizabeth A. Johnson "Learn to view death as a transition, rather than the final step - the glorious process of the soul shedding its physical form in order to reconnect with Universal Spirit. Drawing on her experiences with the death of a loved one, Elizabeth Johnson tells readers that each of us is spirit and that the eternal life within us does not die with the physical body."Mental Health Today Bookstore AD(H)D Books Alcoholism & Addiction Books Bipolar Disorder Books Borderline Personality Disorder Books Children's Mental Health Books Child Abuse & Abandonment Books Clinician's MH Books Depression Books Dissociative Identity Disorder Books Divorce & Child Custody Books Gender Issues Books Grief & Loss Books Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Books Marriage & Relationship Books Narcissistic Personality Disorder Books Panic Disorder & Agoraphobia Books Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Books Psychopharmacology (Medication Books) Self Defense Books Self-Help Books Self-Injury Books Surviving the Break-Up Books Schizophrenia Books Tourette's Disorder Books [ Mental Health Today ] [ Bipolar Disorder Today ] [ Borderline Personality Disorder Today ] [ Depression Today ] [Gender Identity Disorder Today ] [ Narcissistic Personality Disorder ] [ PTSD Today ] [ Schizophrenia Today ] [ Locate a Therapist ]
