Q. I was diagnosed 7 years ago with dissasocitive disorder and recently with ADD. I Have been in treatment since, once a week sometimes twice with my Psychiatrist in Dallas. I was doing fine the past couple of years with no hospitalizations (about 10 times when I was doing some pretty intensive therapy The depression has returned and it seems like it's worse now than it ever was.. I'm taking a great amount of rx's, Risperdal, Effexor, Prozac, Seroquel, Clomipramine, Neurontin to name most of them.
.
I was just curious as to what the difference between Borderline Personality and DID was. I'm desperately working on what the hell is going on with me. I am forty years old, cutting on myself, constantly have suicidal ideation's, throwing up (purging) What I eat. The times I do feel like getting out of bed, this cloud of doom is hovering over me. I started smoking again, my body (mainly) hands have tremors, and basically look like a zombie with dark circles under my eyes.

Anyway, I just needed to talk to someone other than my doctor. I'm afraid he's already disappointed in me. I want the cutting to stop, I'm running out of excuses to tell my kids how I hurt myself, accidentally. Anyway, I'm not sure how I got to this website and what your specialty.

A. Borderline and DID are probably both part of the same illness in your case. Cutting often occurs during periods of dissociation. I have a personal belief that dissociation, when it occurs with BPD is actually a panic symptom, but that is debatable. In either case, antidepressants are likely the way to go. I would recommend any of the medications at the dosages discussed in the other replies at this site.
