Q. I am currently taking 375mg of Effexor XR once a day. Although it has helped immensely with many of my symptoms, my anxiety is not alleviated. Actually, if seems to be getting worse. This anxiety masks any improvements that I might have made. I have tried BuSpar and it only helps for a few weeks. I was considering asking my doctor to add Serzone to my meds. Would you recommend this and, if so, at what dosage?

A. I cannot tell you what is best without knowing the type of anxiety, other medical conditions, and type of BPD. Serzone may work, it may not. Maybe you need more Effexor (450 or 600). Maybe Serzone alone would work better. Do not make changes without your doctor's consent and advice.
