Q. Bipolar or bpd? how can you really tell the difference? I have been diagnosed with bpd, major depression with psychotic features and GAD. I have had a couple times happen to me that seem exactly like the manic or hypo manic stage. it was especially marked a couple weeks ago. if am normally not with much self esteem and that week I was laughing and talking all day long and I thought I could do anything. I felt great, like perfect even. it was very unusual for me.

A. I cannot give you the answer you deserve or are looking for over the net with so little data. You need a full evaluation, and it sounds like your psychiatrist is trying multiple interventions. Personally, I would try to find a medication that addresses your particular needs. There was a study by DiPaulo at Hopkins a few years back and one by Amsterdam at U Penn that reviews cases of BPII like yours. The former study used Prozac, the latter Zoloft. They might be a good starting point for you
