Q. How does BPD affect pregnancy? I am pregnant, and also diagnosed with BPD. It feels like everything has intensified. Your medical opinion would be greatly appreciated.

  A. A great question with no data that I am aware of to document the effects of pregnancy. I keep all my BPD patients on mediations during pregnancy, if the meds are reasonably safe, e.g., antidepressants but not anticonvulsants.

If you feel you are at risk to yourself, you need to see a doctor to go over treatment options. Likewise, if you have an eating disorder, it can effect the fetus, and needs to be treated. Go over it with your treating doctor for his or her advice.
