Q. When SSRI's are not tolerated, and one has comorbid OCD, you advise to use Effexor. Does Effexor help with OCD then? I cannot find any literature that supports this.

A. All drugs that have serotonin reuptake inhibition can help with OCD. Effexor is the closest medication we have to Anafranil (clomipramine) since it also increases noradrenaline release. Yes, it will definitely help with OCD if you use Effexor.

Serzone, on the other hand, works in BPD but not OCD. It is a synthetic serotonin with essentially no reuptake properties at all.
