Q. I have been disabled with being diagnosed as a agoraphobic with severe anxiety and panic attacks. In my Drs. notes I found something disturbing. They said I had mixed personality disorder. What does this mean? I have been like this for 20 years now and want to much to be "normal". I was housebound for 4 years due to this. Also had ECT treatments, which didn't work. I have no idea what to do at this point. I took 1 tablet of Prozac and all I did was think of knifes. I'm on meds. now. - Zoloft, Buspar, Clonazepam and Xanax when needed. Thank you.
A. Mixed means there is more than one personality disorder present, and you have a mix of whatever is there. If what you are doing is not working for you, talk to your doctor about it. If you are unsatisfied, get a second opinion. Things may be as good as they can get for you. Likewise, they could get a lot better. If you are in therapy, which would be a good idea, ask your therapist for feedback, too.
