Q. I'm a borderline. Does abnormally flat buttocks, thin legs and neck and a overall drawn appearance would indicate a vitamin deficiency? I'm a overeater, and I gain fat easily. Would a consumption of B12 solve the problem?

A. There is no data to suggest vitamins have any effect on BPD. The eating is usually a way the body pumps tryptophan into the brain to make serotonin. Carbohydrate craving/sweet tooth is usually an indication that you need an antidepressant that increases serotonin. These would include SRIs (Zoloft, Prozac, Celexa, Paxil, or Luvox), and SNRI (Effexor) or a synthetic serotonin (Serzone). Ask your doctor which is best. Your sweet tooth will go away when you are on the right amount of the correct antidepressant.
