Marketing Your Website and Product(s)

It is vital that you learn to market your website. Most of your traffic to your website will come from search engines. This is also the most preferable method you would like your customers to come from.

They sought you out. You did not seek them out and  therefore when they arrive at your site they will feel that *they* are in control.

Marketing a sales site is altogether different than a website that isn't selling anything. For example, I received most all of my traffic to my mental health sites from other mental health sites that linked to mine. Search engines came in second.

However, when you have a sales site, you want to avoid at all costs, someone clicking off of your site onto another site. You know how it goes. When I surf the Net, I go from one site the next, forgetting where I originally got started. Isn't that your experience also?

That potential customer may never come back to your site and you certainly don't want to link your competitors of course. In fact, you have to convince your customer that your product or service is superior to your competitors. Your site will most likely not be the first site they visit, unless your marketing skills are fantastic and your product is excellent.

If you want to place ads on your website, it is probably not a good idea to put any on your front page. You will want to grab them through your headline remember and keep them interested in your website. What is the point of grabbing them if they click on another link to another site? Out of sight, of mind.

When you do place ads make sure that when the link is clicked on that a new window will open, keeping your site still open. If you don't do this many people will not return to your website after they have clicked to another website.

In order to do this, add - target="_blank" to the end of your links. You will need to go into your html code to do this. Example: Regular link - <a href="http://makemoneydot.com/">
Link to Open a New Window
<a href="http://makemoneydot.com/" target="_blank">

Get your reader's interest first and let them know what your site as to offer. Once that is firmly entrenched in their mind, then introduce your products. Remember to let the customer know why they need your services or your product. Be honest about it! If you have a quality product you won't need to lie anyway and if you do not have a quality product, you will receive many many unhappy and angry letters from folks. Your reputation on the Internet will follow you wherever you go. Remember this.

In order to be listed high on your key words in each search engine, you will need to know the secrets. There is much to learn and knowing this information is vital to your financial success. If you aren't at least in the top 30, preferably in the top ten, most people will not know you exist.

How far down do you scroll after you have typed in a search term in the search engine? I don't scroll down too far either. I don't have the time or the patience. I have a need to know something, or find a service or product that will meet my needs and as soon as my needs are met, I don't scroll any further.

I honestly don't understand why so many people have a difficult time getting their website into Yahoo. If you know ahead of time what Yahoo looks for and apply it to your quality site, you will be listed. Yahoo, however may take some time before they can get around to seeing your site.

You will also find books in our book section that relate to getting a high placement in the search engines. There is a great deal to learn. I studied for well over 3 years and what is important to know is that you have to keep up on the latest information. Search engines and directories are changing constantly.

There are many additional ways to market your site - some are a waste of time and money and others work. This is a time where we can learn from the pros that came before us. Learn from their mistakes.

My recommendation to YOU...

"Experts agree that the four key principles upon which every successful website is based fall into the following four categories:

DEVELOP A WEBSITE THAT WORKS - a website designed to accomplish your Primary Objective - and that objective only!

GENERATE TARGETED TRAFFIC - website traffic comes from many sources. but traffic for traffic's sake is like a vanity plate - who really cares? Instead, you need targeted web traffic, if you want to achieve your website's Primary Objective.

AUTOMATE YOUR WEB SALES PROCESS - A website is your one best chance to SELL your customer. How you go about the process of selling says a lot about your product or service. And the degree to which you can automate your web sales process is the degree to which you can be successful on the Internet.

MULTIPLY YOUR WEB PROFITS - no well lasts forever. The key to long-term success is to deploy multiple income channels. (But avoid the dreaded "flea-market" approach at all costs, or you'll go down in flames!) Remember, how to make money on the Net is easy - it's making it over and over again that really sets you apart!"

You may want to invest in having affiliates sell your product.
