Q. I am diagnoses with MPD, PTSD, and Fibromyalgia. My Previous therapists also diagnosed me with BPD.

I have been taking 100mg. Desyrel, .5 mg Klonopin, and .25 Haldol before bed to help with symptoms. ( I have problems with side effects when doses are higher such as twitching of eyes, tremors in hands, and severe constipation). Now 200 mg. of Neurontin 3x per day has been added. I was told it would help the pain as well as other symptoms. Is Neurontin used for my diagnosis?

A. No one has definitively shown that Neurontin helps in BPD, but it may very well help some patients. It likely works like any of the other anticonvulsants (Depakote, Tegretol, Topamax, Lamictal). My understanding is that most individuals require dosages of 2400 to 3600 mg of Neurontin to maximize benefits in BPD.
