Q. With the BPD do they know yet what chromosome(s) may be involved?
Reason for asking - Both my younger son (the 8 year old) and I have a
genetic anomaly called a balanced reciprocal translocation. My older son
has a trisomy that is a result of my having the translocation. For us, the
affected chromosomes are the 9th and 22nd. My older son has Trisomy 9P-,
but it is not pure, as part of the material triplicated is from the 22nd
(though much less than the 9th).
A. Unknown what chromosome contributes to BPD or even if it is only a single
gene. Also, it may be influenced by environment to express itself. It is not
black and white at this point in time, and may never be.
