  Q. I see a rheumatoligist for fibromyalgia, degenerative arthritis. In the past I was diagnosed with BPD and just recently looked up and now figure this was pretty accurate. I also have TMJ, OCD, migraines and am going thru my change. I have been on small amounts of Prozac for years and couldn't do without it, however, only taking 20 mg's in the morning, take 10 of Deseryl in the pm, which helps me sleep and really helps with the fibromyalgia. I also take estrogen, progesterone, lodine XL, Darvocet, Singulair, Proventil, Seravent and Imitrex (as needed). In your opinion should I increase the Prozac along with all these other necessary medications?

Also have problems remembering things, sometimes have to read things over several times before it will register... I am 43 years old, female, married with 2 children. Own operate a home based horse business.

  A. Prozac is as good as any other medication to use for what ails you. With the other medications you are using, I would recommend either Effexor XR, Zoloft or Celexa instead. Prozac will work for fibromyalgia best at 80 mg daily, and you will also get potential drug interactions with other medications you are already taking. The Effexor XR (300 or 450), Zoloft (300-400) or Celexa (usually 80 mg/day) will not interact with your other medications.

Regardless of which antidepressant you choose, increase the dosage until carbohydrate craving/sweet tooth goes away, and stay at that dosage. It is the one that will work.
