  Q. Recently I started taking Zoloft and am currently titrating the dose to the prescribed amount. I realize that this will eventually help with my anxiety but from my previous experience with an SSRI (Prozac 80mg) it was not fully resolved.

What else can I take to help eliminate the anxiety. I dislike BuSpar and at the current time I am taking Ativan, as needed until my body adjusts to the Zoloft.

Also, by the way is Zoloft good for ADD or ADHD that you know of? Any studies or personal experience?

  A. Sometimes Effexor XR works better for anxiety since it is an SNRI, and broader spectrum. Another possibility is adding Serzone on as 200 to 500 mg at bedtime (increase slowly as tolerated in 100 mg increments) to the Zoloft. It may also be that you need to be on a benzodiazepine (the Ativan) as it is all that will work. Talk it over with your doctor.

As far as ADD or ADHD, Zoloft can sometimes help a great deal, and sometime not at all. Try it and see what happens. Talk about your concerns frankly with your doctor for best results.
