Borderline and Beyond: Revised by Laura Paxton

(I highly recommend this workbook. It is a fantastic resource for everyone with the.."bpd.." or with borderline traits. Laura has a tremendous insight into the borderline disorder and I truly feel her book will not only assist in recovery, but it will help the reader understand the disorder much better. I recommend it not only to borderlines, but their families as well. Refers to the previous edition). "The workbook, 'Borderline and Beyond' that Laura Paxton has written is, by far, the most exciting and supportive inspiration I have encountered for treating people diagnosed with "..." (BPD). As an experienced professional working with this population, I believe this workbook empowers clients with the insightful, respectful and positive way it helps them understand and embrace the gifts and challenges of BPD."

Borderline and Beyond, Workbook and Personal Journal, Revised by Laura Paxton
"The revised workbook presents a 30 day program, featuring daily tests, journal pages and exercises to encourage application of new coping skills and the development of a more positive belief system. It is intended to be used during crisis stabilization and in the initial stages of recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder."
Paperback - 194 pages (November 21, 2001)

Eclipses: Behind the Borderline Personality Disorder by Melissa Ford Thornton
(Author has BPD and describes her experience at Highland In-patient Hospital where she learns DBT skills. She shares some of what she has learned and how DBT has helped her. The only thing I disagreed in the book was her statement "While disability is a godsend for many former patients who do not have sufficient financial resources, the public needs to be made aware that such a resource is an enabler rather than a tag of inability." I have read that as many as 33 % of BPDs are disabled, not because they want to be enabled, but because their illness has truly prevented them from sustaining a job). "Written especially for those suffering from borderline personality disorder, 'Eclipses' offers a unique perspective on BPD--from the viewpoint of the patient. Author Melissa Ford Thornton offers hope and compassion, weaving her own personal experiences with real-life stories of fellow sufferers throughout the book. Included are personal experiences with Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a therapy developed especially for treating borderline personality disorder. Friends and families of borderline patients and professionals in psychology and psychiatry can learn a great deal more about this mental illness by looking at it through the borderline's eyes."

Borderline Personality Disorder : The Latest Assessment & Treatment Strategies by Melanie A. Dean Ph.D
"This book contains professional treatment information in a jargon-free, user-friendly format with technical words defined on the same page they are used. This book is ideal for clinicians as well as patients and concerned loved ones wanting to understand the disorder and the best treatment options." "This condensed review of the diagnosis and treatment of BPD offers an understanding of what causes someone to lash out in anger and want to harm or kill themselves. Written in a jargon-free, easy-to-reference format this guidebook reviews 6 predictors of suicide, common maladaptive thought patterns and the main goals for psychotherapy treatment. The biological basis for the disorder is reviewed along with medications used for treatment."
