"National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality
Disorder is expanding the availability of its �Family CONNECTIONS
program. The 12-week series, co-led by trained family members,
will be offered in the following locations this spring:

The 12-week �CONNECTIONS series provides:
1) Education on borderline personality disorder (BPD)
2) Research findings on BPD
3) Coping skills training based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
in the context of a supportive group environment.
The information presented is based on effective treatment theories and
practices, and the latest research findings to provide the foundation
for a better understanding of this complex disorder.

"Recovery Inc. is a mental health self-help
program based on the ground breaking work of the late Abraham A. Low,
M.D., our founder, a neuropsychiatrist. We are non-profit,
non-sectarian and completely member managed. Recovery, Inc. has been
active since 1937 and we have groups meeting every week around the
world...
Our members include people diagnosed with mood
disorders including depression, dysthymia and bipolar
(manic-depressive) disorders; psychotic disorders including
schizophrenia; anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders; and
personality disorders."

Peer to Peer
Peer-to-Peer is a unique, experiential learning program for people
with any serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and
maintaining their wellness and recovery. The course was written by
Kathryn Cohan, a person with a psychiatric disability who is also a
former provider and manager in the mental health field and a longtime
mutual support group member and facilitator. An advisory board
comprised of consumer members of NAMI, in consultation with Joyce
Burland, Ph.D., author of the successful NAMI Family-to-Family
Education Program, helped guide the curriculum's development.
NAMI-C.A.R.E: Consumers Advocating Recovery through Empowerment
- NAMI-C.A.R.E. is a peer-based, mutual support group program for
individuals facing the challenges of recovering from any serious
mental illness.
- Led by consumers, for consumers, NAMI-C.A.R.E. employs
guidelines and principles of support designed to empower its
members.
- NAMI-C.A.R.E. is not illness-specific, and welcomes persons with
all psychiatric diagnoses.
- A support group model that focuses on allowing all participants
to share their experiences and learn from each other in a safe and
confidential environment.
