Borderline Personality Disorder
Bulletin Board
Seanchai is our Board
Administrator of all of the Mental Health Today Bulletin Boards, including
this one. If you have any questions, you can reach her at
[email protected]
However I encourage you to try and work out any difficulties you may be
having with the moderator you are working with or the board member you may
be having a problem with.
This bulletin board is moderated. All messages to the board will be reviewed
before they are sent to the board. Messages that do not conform to the rules
below will not be added to the bulletin board. This is for your protection
and to make sure that this is a safe place for you.
The bulletin board is to be used exclusively by people with borderline
personality disorder. This is a safe place where anyone with this disorder
can say what they feel and not be criticized. This is a place to be accepted
for who we are, right where we are, wherever we are in our recovery.
There is one exception to this, and that is the Open Forum, where family,
friends, clinicians and those with BPD all join together. All 7 other forums
are to be used exclusively by people with BPD.
Welcome!
Rules
1. Suicidal ideation and discussions of suicide are permitted as long as you
are not at immediate risk. Thoughts of suicide are normal for many of us as
we suffer depression, etc. We need to discuss these things openly.
2. However, anyone who is actively suicidal (i.e. at risk) is NOT permitted
onto ANY of the boards as you are encouraged to call 911 immediately! The
moderators for these bulletin boards are not trained to deal with suicidal
matters and we do not have any information on how to locate you to call law
enforcement. Again, you are NOT permitted onto the board until your suicidal
thoughts have terminated completely.
Instead of telling someone here that you are very suicidal or that you have
taken medication, please call 911 immediately so that you can get the proper
help you need to keep you safe. Again, when you are safe, you are welcome
back.
3. Discussion of self-mutilation or self-harm can be discussed as long as
you mention it in your subject after the word "Trigger:"
Discussion of these topics can be a trigger for some people so we need to
protect everyone on this board. If you feel you may be triggered in anyway
by the subject matter, wait until you are able to handle that subject.
Discussion of these topics are only permitted when it is in terms of
recovery.
4. Self-destructive behavior (speeding, shop-lifting, criminal behavior,
etc.) again are permitted with the subject put in the subject line. IE -
Trigger: Speeding. Again-discussions of these maladaptive behaviors are
permitted when in the spirit of recovery.
5. No arguments, fights or flames are permitted on this bulletin board. It
is fine to say you disagree with someone and why, but it is not appropriate
to argue or flame someone. This is not the place to rage. This is the place
to discuss your rages.
6. No foul language is permitted. (If you absolutely feel you must; the
words "crap," "hell," "damn" &
"ass" are permitted). It is true that there are times when curse
words are helpful when expressing yourself and they are very powerful.
However, many people take offense to this and many times this habit can be
abused. This is also a good place to practice disagreements with positive
discussion versus splitting and raging.
No "half-use" of foul language is permitted. IE., sh&t, or
he%%. If you use these sorts of words your message will not be released onto
the board.
7. You are expected to show complete courtesy and respect at all times to
one another, to the board moderators and administrators and to Mental Health
Today. You will be treated with complete courtesy and respect at all times
as well.
If you feel at any time that your rights as an individual have been
violated, we are here to listen and take appropriate action if necessary. If
you have a grievance discuss it with the board administrator Seanchai at
[email protected]
.
8. You are expected to keep the same nickname on the MH Today boards. This
avoids a lot of confusion. You cannot be banned for not having the same
nickname. However we are asking you to keep it consistent.
9. You may not give out any medical or legal advice!
If you have left a message and do not find it posted and you have a question
about why you don't find it, ask one of the moderators.
Moderators have been instructed to delete posts, not to edit them. We do not
have the time to edit posts and it is not their responsibility to do that.
It is up to the person posting the message.
If a member continues to break the rules of the board, and/or demonstrates
very disruptive behavior on the board, he/she will be banned from the board
after receiving fair warning. The length of the ban will be determined by
the reason for it.
There are bans however that do happen without warning to the board member.
These happen only if the behavior is severe and they must be approved by
Seanchai and myself.
The moderator who bans you will give you the reason about why you are being
banned. If you have any questions at all about this banning process, ask the
person banning you or Seanchai. Seanchai and myself are the only people who
can actually perform the banning process.
Also I must approve all bans.
We happen to think you are very special and we will be providing a safe
atmosphere for everyone.
I encourage people to make friends with people you feel safe with. You might
want to exchange email addresses.
You are expected to know these rules when you come on board. It is your responsibility
to read them.
Patty Pheil M.S.W.
Webowner and Board Owner
Please feel free to open up and let it out...let it all out.
This board is extremely confidential and you will find that you are not
alone and that many people cry the same tears.
