Q. I've been doing as much reading and research as I can about my husband's BPD but am very new at it and would like an answer to one question. Is it possible for someone with this disorder to be faithful? Thank you.

A. While many individuals with BPD have challenges with impulse control, there is nothing I've seen in the literature that would suggest that they are automatically destined for infidelity or promiscuity. It may be more difficult for your husband to control some of his behaviors, but in the end, he has a choice. The short answer to your question is "Yes, it is possible for someone with BPD to be faithful to his/her spouse." Thanks for your question.
