Q. Hello. I've been being treated for soft bipolar (which Docs weren't sure I was) and anxiety or Pstd from trauma...now they say I have BPD...Is it curable/fixable? Doc said it was worse the bipolar, why? and how is it best treated? and does it get worse and worse?
Thank you so much for your time.

A. BPD is a complex set of symptoms that are often found in individuals with other diagnoses, like Bipolar and/or PTSD. It is impossible to make a general statement about whether it's "curable" or "worse" than another disorder, as it is a different experience for each individual, and the success of treatment depends on many factors. Recommendations for the treatment of BPD typically involve individual psychotherapy, medication, and group work (e.g. skills training of the type offered by Marsha Linehan's "DBT" program).
