Every individual is different, has a different set of symptoms, and responds differently to medication. In general, I would say that many individuals with your diagnosis benefit from taking medication throughout their lifetime, but it would be hard to tell if they are treating just the BPD or just the bipolar. Others are able to cut out medications entirely later in life without any negative ramifications.
